T-Mobile Buys US Cellular

As a nerd, from time to time. I get lost on the internet looking at random Cellular providers in the United States or in oAs a nerd, from time to time. I get lost on the internet looking at random Cellular providers in the United States or in around the world. This time I was looking to see if US Cellular had expanded their coverage in recent years.

As they have always been more prominent in area’s of rural Northern California, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Virginia, and Maine. They never really expanded.

I was thinking how long it would take for one of the larger carriers to gobble them up.

Well, on May 28th of 2024 T-Mobile announces that they are going to acquire US Cellular.

As I am a fan of T-Mobile and think that their network out performs any network in the United States, however this also promotes less competition in the United States. They also acquired Mint Mobile.

Mint Mobile did not have their own network, they just resold the T-Mobile network and put their brand on the carrier.

Instead of building out their own network, carriers just buy up little carriers to make one large one. In the processes, getting rid of the competition. The little carriers never even had a chance to Compete against the larger carriers to begin with. It has been happening for the last 20 years.

Just like what they did with Sprint. There were Sprint Stores next to T-Mobile stores. People lost jobs and people on the top made more money, while leaving others without a job.

At this point there are only three carriers in the United States: AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile.
